Basswood is a premium hardwood commonly used in high-quality shutters due to its strength, stability and smooth grain. It allows for a refined painted or stained finish and is ideal for bespoke shapes and detailed designs. Compared with other lightweight woods such as paulownia, basswood offers greater durability, a more consistent finish and a higher-quality feel.

Our UK-made shutters are manufactured from polymer, which is a hardwearing material resistant to moisture and decay, making it suitable for any room in the house, including kitchens and bathrooms.

As standard we measure top down, however this can be changed to be bottom up as default if you prefer, or can be changed by clicking the red arrow on the portal for each order line if required.

Measure from the outside left edge of the frame to the point where you want the T-post to sit. For additional T-posts, repeat the measurement for any additional T-posts.

Measurements should be taken across the front of the installation area where the shutters will be installed. If ordering one-piece bay posts on the basswood range, measurements should instead be taken across the back of the bay. Please refer to our technical manuals for full guidance.

No. We manufacture shutters exactly to the sizes provided, so installers should make their own allowances before ordering. As a general guide, we recommend deducting approximately 5mm from both width and drop, as our manufacturing tolerance is + or - 3mm.

Our manufacturing tolerance is plus or minus 3mm from the ordered dimensions.

Pricing up for shaped shutters is actually very simple.  The complexity of the shape doesn't matter - instead it is based on the longest dimensions in width and height, plus a shaped-shutter-surcharge.  Therefore the calculation is ((Widest point in metres x Highest point in metres) x SQM £ Price) + £ Shaped Shutter Surcharge)

Measuring shapes is very bespoke, so we can't give an answer that fits all scenarios! If you want to discuss measuring for shaped shutters, please get in touch and we will be happy to talk things through with you.

First you must generate a quote in the Everwood portal, ensuring that you select 'Shaped' from the model dropdown option, and then save the quote.  When you reopen the quote, a new 'Documents' tab will appear, allowing you to upload dimensioned drawings and photos.

For UK-made shutters, we offer:

• Three standard batten sizes plus trim in 20mm and 40mm widths

For basswood shutters, we offer:

• Frame build outs in 20mm increments (20mm/40mm/60mm), as well as custom sized battens, made to your specified dimensions.

Yes. When logged into your account you can use the 3D visualiser to see an accurate representation of both UK-made and basswood shutters. For basswood shutters, detailed production drawings become available the morning after your order is submitted. These should be checked carefully before approval. Once drawings are approved and the order is paid for, production will begin and changes cannot be made.

We provide a 5-year warranty on both UK Made and Basswood shutters.
